Singer Shalmali Kholgade, who shot to fame with the song "Pareshaan" from the 2012 film Ishaqzaade, recently performed at a private concert in Bengaluru. In a recent interview with Bangalore Times, she expressed her love for performing live and her preference for the stage over the studio. She emphasized the collaborative nature of music and the importance of talented individuals in shaping a show.
Kholgade mentioned that she strives to strike a balance by not sharing too much on social media, focusing instead on music and arts-related content. She described her passion for live performances, where she feels like a powerful sorcerer who can captivate the audience with every move.
She credited her success in the Bollywood music industry to opportunities provided by composer Amit Trivedi, who gave her the break with "Pareshaan."The credit for my independent music holds a special place in my heart, as it is a project I deeply care about. Prior to this, I was involved in various activities such as performing with my college band and clubs, as well as being part of a Latvian cabaret. I juggled live shows with recording jingles, but my passion for music remained unwavering. My father, whom I affectionately call baba, once shared with me the value of learning through travel. He encouraged me to explore different places, engage with people, ask questions, and maintain a sense of curiosity. I am grateful for the opportunities I have to travel, engage in music, and lead a fulfilling life. Music has always been my true calling, and I am dedicated to every aspect of the creative process, not just singing. I take pride in being involved in every step that contributes to the final product, as it allows me to express myself fully through my music. - Shalmali Kholgade
Regarding the development of AI, I find it to be quite daunting. Recently, I released a song titled "Tu Hai" in collaboration with Nikhil D'Souza. Shortly after its upload on a streaming platform, I came across another track named "Tu Hi Tu Hai," credited to me as the female singer. However, I have never recorded such a song. I suspect it was an AI-generated track, possibly uploaded deliberately to divert attention from my own song. This incident left me feeling unsettled and apprehensive about the advancements in technology.
